April 1st sees the biggest shake-up of the NHS since 1948. Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) are being abolished. Instead, your health requirements will be handled by a new organisation called the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). In practice, you will not notice any change. You will see your GP and order your prescriptions in the usual way, but under the new scheme your local Borough Council will be the driving force whose job will be to improve the health of its local population.
