Vitamin D deficiency
Britons are in the grip of a vitamin D deficiency not seen since the early 20th century. Sunlight is the main source of vitamin D and we are not getting enough of it, especially children and pregnant women. We were told to apply high factor sunscreen before going out in the sun. Now Doctors are saying that we should allow ourselves ten minutes in the sun before applying sunscreen. If we do this every day ( assuming the sun is shining) we will obtain enough vitamin D to prevent poor bone development. Also Kids should be encouraged to play outdoors and not sit all day in front of a computer or TV.
